Phillip Gerrard was born in Dublin in 1869 he was the son of Archibald Gerrard and Eliza Stone (from Castlecomer, Kilkenny) when they were en-route to Liverpool. The family shortly moved on to Glasgow where his brother Samuel was born in 1871 - although the 1871 census shows that he was born in Ireland. This was rectified in the 1881 census (as Scotland). The family can be seen in Rock Street, Old Swan, Liverpool in 1871 and Scourfield Street, Wavertree in 1881. A five minute walk between the two.
